Hope Is Coming Soon
Revelation 22:12 & 17
(Jesus) Behold, I am coming soon!
(Writer) The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let the one who hears say, 'Come!' Let the one who is thirsty COME!
There is an Aramaic word Paul uses at the end of 2 Corinthians that has echoed across millennia in the church: Maranatha! meaning, ‘Come, Lord!’ Although that actual word is not used in the verses above it has a strong connection to what is spoken.
The word ‘Maranatha’ reminds us that despite all the messiness of life - the failed relationships, plans that go wrong, crippling fears, family sicknesses, tragedies, and full-blown disasters - Jesus is coming again, and when he does, he has plans to set up shop and right all wrongs.
'And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.' (Rev 21:3-4)
(Take a deep breath here)
Things are going to be fine. YOU are going to be fine. Jesus is coming again.
The truth is, we do not even have the imagination to grasp the goodness of God in Jesus when he comes to dwell with us forever. What we do have, though… is hope - and as Paul says in Romans, ‘hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that he has given us.’ (Romans 5:5)
What we must do now is ask for the Holy Spirit to fill us and make us new! We need to know the hope to which God has called us - every day!
Prayer - Fill me, Holy Spirit so I can know your hope today. Give me strength to stand on your promises and your purposes. I look for your coming into my life today. Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!

We’re launching a new rhythm of daily devotionals in 2025 called BREAD. This is a modern take on lectio divina and will be paired with a BREAD Journal. We are so grateful to all those who have written our devotionals over the last four and a half years, and we hope they have created a moment each day to help you connect with God. We will send out more information over the coming weeks!
